Nueces County Community Action Agency NCCAA), a private, non-profit corporation is pleased to announce our 50th Anniversaiy Gala, ‘The Night Circus”to be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, 7:00-11:00 pm at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. You may choose to visit our Silent Auction Area and Food Stations or, just dance the night away to the music by Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes. Rotel was named as one of the top ten party bands in the United States by Harper’s Bazaar magazine. Their show captures the sounds, the look, and the fun of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. We invite you to join us at this year’s fun-filled celebration as a donor or sponsor. Profits from this event will provide support toward the goals ofNCCAA.
Our Gala celebration is to commemorate the fifty-year anniversary of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, established by President Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty.” Community Action Agencies were created nationwide to provide a broad range of human services at the community level to help individuals build self- sufficiency and rise out of poverty.
NCCAA offers several Community Service programs in Nueces County that include Weatherization, Utility Assistance, Housing, Information/Referral, and Birth-to-Five Head Start. This year, the Birth-to-Five Head Start Pre-school program is serving 1,092 children (ages 3-5) while Early Head Start (EHS) serves 200 center-based infants and toddlers (ages 0-3), 20 home-based families and 10 expectant women. Services include education, health, disabilities, mental health, nutrition, and family services.
